Nothing More Wondrous

The iguanas, which the bad lieutenant sees thanks to the drug haze he is under, were my idea. There is nothing more bigwondrous than seeing Nicolas Cage and a lizard together in one shot. I was walking through the city and saw one of these creatures sitting up in a tree. “I need two of them,” I told one of the producers. I filmed them myself in a thoroughly demented way, using a tiny lens at the end of a fibre-optic cable. Everyone on set asked me what the meaning of the shot was. “I have no idea,” I said, “but it’s going to be big.”
